I am sharing with you today a story about an inspiration for a decor in a very nice house.
Eve’s client was having a home build in Austin, Texas. When time came to create the interior architecture for the dining room, the idea came from another dining place.
Her client who loves to go to Louisiana went several times to eat in a great restaurant located on Bourbon Street, New Orleans called Galatoire’s. Founded in 1905 by Jean Galatoire, the French brings traditional family cuisine from the South West of France to Louisiana.
The menu is very good, the room has a warm and friendly ambiance, so the client inspired decides to take pictures and gave them to the Interior designer Eve as a theme and guideline for her dining area.
The result is the following; A bright room with tall windows to the floor framed by deep moldings and two sets of wood plantation shutters.
Each corners have sets of mirrors, beveled glass with antique patina. Below the mirrors, a chair rail molding runs along the 3 walls and wood panels fill up the space to the floor.
To complete the charm, the room has wood box beam ceiling with a little detail of the Lone Star.
A picture rail painted in green is placed around the room for future artwork. Between these two, a large piping cord or welt in fabric complement the walls.
The walls are upholstered in a Pierre Deux fabric, a beautiful exquisite green Louis XVI linen mix damask. The pattern is a basket of flowers and ribbons running diagonally.
Notice that no decorative trimming is used in this room. A very important detail as the client wished to have a clean and fresh finish. CES (clean edge system) makes possible this type of finish around of the wood moldings.
Very soon I will have pictures of the room furnished with the lighting in place, scones, chandelier, furniture and accessories.
I am very pleased to see this color of fabric for wall upholstery. Life is colorful, dare the difference. It is nice change from beige on beige with more beige in all the rooms in the house.
As promised I am adding some pictures of the room with the furniture installed
Including all the fixtures.
It is now a beautiful warm dining room!
